Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! It feels great to be among others who value coin collecting.
BuckeyeCoinguy, thank you for sharing about the special memories with your father. I agree, the coins become more cherished when a loved one was involved. I will pass the collection on to my son someday. I'm a jewelry designer, and when a special coin stands out to me that my mom collected, I will make a sentimental necklace to wear it close to my heart.
Good luck on your search everyone!
Carol

If you have 20,000 cents, chances are there are more than two collectable ones in the mix. There may not be any extremely rare ones, but there might be. Learn what to look for and go through them again, after all, the search is most of the fun!

Hi everyone! Thank you for the warm welcomes!! Thanks so much for the link cwb! I did run into that site on my phone when researching. It seems to have more detailed info on my computer. I just ran across rare laminated cents on the site. I think I saw one of those! Can't remember though. It was way too many coins to look through! Before I started searching the coins, I studied for about a week, jotting down all possible rare coins to look for, such as the 1992 D " Close AM" etc. I haven't thoroughly gone through all my wheat backs and just put them together by year. Also, I have saved all 1982, separately, and need to go through those. The pre 1982 copper coins are back in my glass jug and I plan to go through those again. I'm sure you are right about missing some. I'm excited to cash in the ones I've gone through because I'm then buying some non searched through cents from an old timer who has saved them for years:) One of my mom's friends. He just wants the 1 cent value. Yay! I will study the site you provided a bit more in depth and add possible rare ones to my list. Wish me luck! Carol

Thank you Earle42 for the welcome! Yes, going through her collection helps me to feel closer to her.
NumisRob, I am so very sorry for your recent loss. It is very difficult to lose a parent. It has taken me many years to heal from my moms passing. I now celebrate her life in small ways, like honoring her coin collection. I wish you all the best.
