Um, those scratches are not "woodgrain...."

Hopefully the coin is depicted in plastic, because there's no mint process which makes hairlines lap from fields onto devices. Otherwise it's probably a Details piece.

Follow the lines and look at the rim involvement. I'd say PMD from that no?

Sure looks somewhat like wood though

Can you guys take a closer look at Lincolns ear in the enlarged picture. It appeared to me that one of those lines followed into the ear hollow, pretty hard to make a scratch follow the contour? That and the fact that the lines matched so well onto the rim, and there are also matching lines on the reverse. At least that is what made my mind up after viewing the coin with a loupe.

Here are two pictures with a microscope objective. Focus is very shallow, so not everything is sharp, I need to learn how to stack to make this come out better. Notice how the lines flow through the device, and also into the rim. Let me know what you think, I am still learning!

Boy don are you using an electron microscope lol. Those macros are NICE. It sure looks like an improper alloy mix to me now and those rim nicks seem seperate from the lines.

I'm not sure what that was, didn't see it until after the picture was taken. I used a cotton pad to push the coin from the dansco, could be a piece of that.
