@jpsned I think they should actually roll out some new halves for circulation, and freshen them up to appeal more to normal people.

Each coin should be totally redesigned every 6 years, front and back.

Start with a new cent next year, then a new nickel the year after, etc.

I don't know about that, the designs would get super cheesy after the first 5 years... i.e. the Presidential dollars

In another thread I suggested that the obverse of all 6 coins be a representation of Lady Liberty with the reverse being a different symbol of Liberty or the nation, such as the Liberty Bell, flag, US Capitol etc. The reverse designs can rotate through the coins like a volleyball team so that they get repeated every 6th year on a denomination.

Add to that the elimination of value names like "Dime", Quarter Dollar" etc. and have the actual value in cents shown (10 Cents, 25 Cents...) instead.

This would at once provide a continuity as well as variety in designs over the years, not only for the dime but for other coins as well. It also eliminates the politics from coin designs, which will rear its ugly head with any real person depicted, Reagen, Roosevelt or otherwise.

I think quarter, dime etc is quite unique and often that is something that's good. I can find 25 cents on coins in many countries and doesn't say anything about that country at all.

When I go to another country I like designs that stand out.

I think that the bills of US currency need to change and be a bit more distinguishable from the other denominations.

Change is due. I would prefer (as many of you would) Liberty in some form. At least not a President or other historical figure.

I like the idea, but queue the inevitable Chuck E. Cheese token comparison in three, two, one...

I see a lot of comments about recycling designs to use for the dime. I think a brand new design would be best. Could I tell you which design it should be? Nope. :P

I definitely agree. An all new design, or leave them be. We have enough recycled designs with cars.
