Why does everyone always insist on changing things just for the sake of change?
I would not say this is for the sake of change, but that it is long overdue. Regularly changing coin designs is not without precedent.

Lets just go back to the Mercury dime.
Been there, done that. All new or just leave it be.

Many of these designs are very nice, but far too intricate to fit on the tiny dime.

Personally, I'd like to see our current president on the obverse, with Mt McKinley, sorry Mt Obama, sorry Mt Denali on the reverse.

I like some of the designs displayed here, it is time to change. 70 years is enough for one design, even for a Roosevelt.

I would like to see the value expressed as "10 Cents instead of "One Dime". Same goes for the quarter and half...

I would love to see a restoration of the Mercury dime, quite possibly the best design for a common coin ever. Failing that something simple due to its small size. I wouldn't bother to change the size of it to larger than a nickel since it is more appropriate to drop the smaller value coins altogether, but that is an argument for another thread.

I hope that was a joke

I have to agree. The mock-ups are nice, but they need to be simplified for the size.

There was a mock-up on page 1 of this thread with the head of the Statue of Liberty but it had some noise in the background. I think if you could eliminate the background and just use the head that might work. I do agree with folks here that the size of the coin impacts how busy the design should be.
