That's an awesome set - thank you for sharing it with us! I find it interesting that the two 2014 Silver Kennedys are considered circulation strikes.

Completing my Kennedy half set is on my numismatic to-do list for sure... at this time I won't be going for all the varieties but will be doing proofs. Quite a challenge and you've given me some more motivation to get going on this!

We are off tomorrow en route to the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association show, maybe we will see some members from this forum there. See the Show Calendar on this forum for complete details. We will have lots of new coins and hope to hook some of them up with new owners (including some of our duplicate Kennedy halves). Come up and say hi if you are at the show, we will be at Table 319, in front of the left-side Snack Bar and restrooms, we will have a T-shaped corner table.

Y'all travel safely out there!

Best Regards,

George

Per PCGS:

Quote:
In conclusion, this also makes it the scarcest of all the 1964 Special Strike coin denominations produced.

CoinFacts has the MS67 1964 50C SMS (Special Strike) at $ 15,000 now.

But what's even more incredible is the fourfold amount of appreciation over ten years based upon the 11/06 BM $4,715 auction results also noted on CoinFacts.

You do not have to respond unless you want to but I would be very curious to know when and what you had to spend to acquire your 1964 50C SMS (Special Strike)?

Excellent acquisitions.

What an awesome set you have put together and the toning on some of the coins is stunning.

George,

What an awesome set and accomplishment. The centerpiece of my incomplete Kennedy set is a 69 D MS67*.

I believe this to be a top pop example. Because you're experienced with this series, can you confirm this for me?

Thanks,

Singer

That is a great looking collection

I can't imagine how much time and effort it took to put that set together.

Hi Singer, it has been a while since I trod these boards. Thank you for the nice compliment on my set. Yes, it took a lot of time, energy, and money, but it is getting pretty difficult to find upgrades that don't break the bank.

Your 1969-D half photo MS67 Star NGC is a trifle dark, but it certainly looks to be one spicy enchilada!

Checking NGC and PCGS population data, I see that PCGS reports seven examples of the 1969-D in MS67 and one in MS67+. NGC shows 10 submissions in MS67, of which six (including yours) have the Star designation for superior eye appeal. So I would say your piece is tied for finest at NGC, but there is one coin marginally finer at PCGS. Good luck and nice to hear from you!

Best Regards,

George

Man some of those have beautiful colors on them. I add any toned colored ones (NT or AT as long as it looks nice) to my album when I CRH. Very nice!
