Despite my poor overall opinion of this seller, I've been watching them for years and have never heard a hint of this type of deception deliberately, or any aspersions on their quality as businesspersons. They do a *ton* of business, and I've no doubt this one slipped through without notice.
If you choose to politely inform the seller - which is what you do before going off like a grenade and having it pulled - mention that authentic examples use mint marks with serifs. That's all you'll need, and I have no doubt they'll do the right thing.

This is obvious fake, the S is not even close to what it should be.

There are going to be 5 or 6 disappointed bidders who would do better to spend their time here.
Does the VDB on the reverse look a little funky, too? It's awfully light.

I got burned by this seller early on a few years back when I started getting into Seated halves. They advertised a 1861-O Seated half as AU-58. I bought it, got it graded, and came back cleaned. I have learned a lot since then. If this seller is selling something raw, assume it has been cleaned. |
