Some start at 50% and others start at zero - depends on the item being offered. In some cases (e.g. RCM Wildlife Series) they have some coins starting at a certain price and other identical or similar coins starting at 0. I managed to get a couple of items in their last auction at a reasonable price even with the fee and taxes. Other stuff I got outbid on and watched as it got bid way past my limit.

I've heard of taxes but what the heck is "juice"?

Colonial Acres auction now has images uploaded and I think you can start bidding. Auction fee is 18% and many items have start prices at $1.00. Nice selection of items. If you are in the Kitchener area preview is on the 19-23rd.

Don't know anything about that - they do state "Items are as is, no warranty given.", and I guess like anything it is buyer beware.

This is from the auction website. Doesn't look like there is any set rate. "Shipping will be calculated & added on to the final invoice amount. Any duties incurred for shipping to US residents is the sole responsibility of the buyer."

I'm local so can't help with shipping- sorry - would imagine it depends how far away you are. I'm already outbid on most of the items I had interest in - quite likely will not be picking anything up this time around . . .

How are estimates determined for auctions like these? And do they actually reflect anything or are they just there to try and hike up the price? I noticed they had some X for X coins but the $25 one has an estimate of $50, and all the $100 ones have an estimate of $150 which doesn't make any sense to me.

I think they just set them manually, I noticed that as well for the X for X and shook my head.

Estimates are generally pure BS for non-rare, low ms and below. 1/2 trends is about going rate for cdn coins that I have been watching/buying. Over 80% of circulation coins at the fall ccn auction were well below bottom estimate or did not sell.
Last auction I watched the x for x were selling bellow FV (after buyers premium, meaning someone lost a boat load).

A lot of the estimates read like this "$75-$100,000"
