Good idea for a Christmas gift!
In my opinion, the Christmas controversy is kind of stupid. If you celebrate Christmas, that's fine. If you celebrate a different holiday, that's fine as well.

Great idea! My parents hooked me up with something like 10 rolls of nickels and 10 rolls of cents last year. Was pretty awesome :)

Thanks for the warm welcome back!
When I mentioned the Christmas thing it was sort of "tongue-in-cheek". "Political Correctness" seems to be getting out of hand these days. The company I work for no longer has a Christmas party (it is now called a holiday party). Our overseas sites call it a Year-End party. My town cannot put up any religious Christmas displays, for fear that it might offend someone.
Thankfully, I still have a Christmas tree (not a holiday tree).

If the kids get you coins, go through the rolls with them! Might be a good chance to get them interested in the hobby and can be something fun to have in common with them. Btw welcome back!

Thanks! Great idea to have the kids help go through them. You never know, they may come back to the hobby.

That's what I got from my wife last year. A box of cents, nickels, and dimes. It's pretty much the only time I've roll hunted in the last couple years. It was fun.

I requested it again for this years present!

Happy New Year everyone! So I got a box of cents (bank-wrapped) as a Christmas gift from my kids. I found about 12 wheats in it, along with a few other minor errors and varieties of LMCs. So I bought another 20 rolls from the same bank branch, but this time they were all customer wrapped rolls. I spent New Year's Eve going through them and found an entire roll of wheats, ranging in dates from 1923 through 1957. This has never happened to me before, and I practically screamed with joy. The total between the box and the other 10 rolls was 89 wheats, including one 1958 sparkling with mint luster, and a 1957-D (uncirculated) which was apparently plated in chrome!?! It was so brilliant and shiny that I could not photograph it properly.

I cannot wait until tomorrow morning when that bank branch opens. I will be first in line to buy more rolls.

Oh Yeah, I almost forgot. I also got a 1944-P War Nickel in change from a local pizzeria, also on New Years Eve. What a way to end the year!

So I went back to the same bank branch the next day and got the same teller. I picked up 20 rolls and they all were customer wrapped, just like the first batch. However, they only yielded a total of 3 wheats and a 1981-S proof cent.

I will keep using the original remaining $25 box money I received as the gift, and keep exchanging for rolls. I wonder how long I can make this gift last.

You can make it last until you have $25 worth of keepers -- or if you add your own money to cover the cost of the keepers -- this could go on forever. That's the beauty of it.

I hope you're having a lot of fun.

I am indeed having lots of fun with this... I had almost forgotten how addicting this can be.

I just heard about some 2015 DDO Lincolns recently discovered. LIBERTY is slightly doubled I think. A "minor" error, but it should still be fun looking for them. And to think I haven't even been checking the 2015s. Thousands of them must have crossed my path by now...
