Wouldn't we all wish that we could stash something away so 72 years later it would become a dedazzling surprise to another.
Congratulations, so glad you weren't disappointed!

I predict that the value of MS63 to 64 1943 cents just declined 10%....
Seriously, it looks like you have many that will make ICCS red. Maybe a couple that are PCGS red.
Given the general appearance, I suspect you have a 65 or 2 in there.

Here is what I can see about varieties. I looked through the list of varieties on coinsandcanada.com but couldn't find the varieties I have.
31 coins have the same radial die crack that is right on the right edge of the X in REX. The die crack extends from the rim into the hair. There are a couple small chunks out of the die crack making small lumps.
7 coins have the same radial die crack that just touches the left tip of the V in VI. The crack extends from the bottom center of the denticle over the left side of the V and terminates at Georges eyebrow.
3 coins have a die crack and big chip just to the right of Georges eye. The crack runs vertically half way down his face. The crack does not seem to extend to any of the edges. It might extend along his eyebrow.
6 coins have a big 'pimple' in the field between Georges chin and the 'o' in 'George.' There are other bumps visible in the fields of the obverse. On the reverse, there are bumps or die chips on the right side of the 4 in the date and a big one near the top of the gap between the 1 and C of '1 CENT"
The last 3 coins have a number of bumps in the fields. A small one on the frond edge of Georges chin on the obverse. On the reverse, there is a big one below the '1' in '1 CENT' and an number of bumps or chips near the top of the 9 in the date.
So, of 50 coins, there are only 5 varieties. Does anybody have any ideas?
Sorry I am not posting picture of these. I will try to get some and post them, but I am going to have to do something with my camera set-up (or lack of).

Just make sure those album pockets are not PVC. If that is the case seal the pockets of the album with a high quality acid / alkaline free tape to keep atmospheric moisture out, and don't fall out when handling the page.
Ya done well.

Those are beautiful coins Thanks for sharing this with us. What an experience! Quote: Sorry I am not posting picture of these. I will try to get some and post them, but I am going to have to do something with my camera set-up (or lack of). Here is a quick and almost no cost setup for macro pics. Since this listing I improved on it by buying a $1.00 iphone case, attached the lens to the backside of the case, and then taped the case on a block that puts it around 3 inches up from the coin. Hardly any cost and does what I need. https://goccf.com/t/243488Here is an amazing thread by DarthMorgan: https://goccf.com/t/160092I am working (slowly) on making a similar setup, but I used a translucent ice cream bucket instead of the box he bought. I have not experimented with lighting as I have not been trying to capture color and luster (yet) - just macros.

I realized that to view things like die cracks and such, I can scan the coin. Of course, this is not ideal to recover luster and the color looks funny, but you can see the detail nicely. The picture below is of the die crack present on 31 of the coins, extending from the rim, past the X and into the hair.

What a great lot of pennies, makes me want to delve in to a lot of 37 to 52 I purchased in 2014 - they were also supposedly in storage since the early 60's however I don't expect them to be UNC but maybe a few nice ones...

Beautiful roll. Wish I came across this thread sooner, I could have done some research sooner for you, I frequent that market. And have bought a handful of items from them. They are the only coin booth in the market but the owner also has another store further south in Toronto.

lucky bum.
I was going to offer to take that nasty roll of 'canuck' money off your hands...
I'm with the concensus of that not being an official bank of canada roll - and just some company's roll...

I also do not think that it is an official Bank of Canada, but I suspect that it was probably rolled around the time of the date based on when I know my grandfather was collecting things. The fact that there are very clearly only 5 die pairings in the roll also indicate that the coins were probably rolled directly out of some bulk delivery from the mint. Collecting 50 UNC coins at a later date would pretty much guarantee a much more random set of die pairings.
