If you are not going to keep it, get it graded soon and sell it, there are rumours of many of these coins.

There has to be at least 300 to 400 of them graded by now.

Depending on grade you still could get around 1000.00 to 2500.00

Yes I think I will keep it for now, probably go down in value as more are found but it is nice to have.

No matter how much I liked it, I would not turn down the extra money that could be had by selling sooner rather than later. It's your decision, but with that money you could get some pretty nice coins.

Yes Numisma I know what you mean. I never have been an error or variety collector (major varieties only) and would be nice to have 1948 SD to complete that collection. I have never sold coins before and am a little nervous about sending it in mail for grading or selling.

I've been there. I'm sure you can get some good advice here if you decide to sell. Make sure you have it graded first, though.

I never understood why these would fetch anything beyond the value of an off metal/foreign planchet error, especially since a foreign planchet is a lot more dramatic to the eye. I don't want to have to pull out a magnet to figure out why I dropped 5000$. Much rather a nickel struck on penny blank, or visa versa.

The Home Shopping guys would not be selling ms 66 for around 2700,00 if my memory is correct, more being found the lower it's value, if you have little love for this type of coin go to a large coin show and trade it with a dealer for the 48 dollar that you like. It's my opinion that this variety will keep dropping in value as time goes.

This was a fun thing to do, searched three larger jars of cents I have and only found one 2005P red that is a mag type. I was surprised to find it out of at least 5000 pennies I have
