Just curious, no one has mentioned the die crack on the reverse at the top of United States of.

Sort of, the die crack is a pup for VAM23C http://www.vamworld.com/1900-O+VAM-23C The crack between E S without the die chip on the S could exclude this coin from VAM23C designation, I think. My guess is it would be a VAM23B if die polish lines are present or just VAM23 LDS if not.

Interesting, thanks Dave700x. Just trying to learn as much as possible about this coin and or variety. I have more questions, should I post under another topic?

Great coin, nice AU-58. Massive die crack makes this one look like the reverse die was about ready to come apart when this one was struck. I'm not seeing the polish lies so I'd agree with the VAM23.

I moved this from Grading to VAM for more opinions on its variety.

AU 58 and obviously earlier die state of the VAM-23C. The 23 series sure is a mess, and I did not help any with my latest submission and new variety ;)

I would say this is technically a VAM 23, but I would call it a VAM-23C EDS if it was in my collection since it is obviously of the same pairing. Die study tends to make me think in this manner... EDS/LDS of a given pairing. VAM-23 "Multiple die pairs exist for this VAM designation."

Thanks all for your input. All these different VAM types is somewhat confusing to someone relatively new to the industry. However it has peek an interest for myself. I will acquire the "Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace dollars" in the near future.
Thanks again for your help...Jim
