Those albums were eaten away by rats, and other pests. Clearly in a basement or attic for a LONG time. I'm sure those coins or albums must STINK like must and who knows what. Hope you find some great coins! That'd be a dream for me.

Looks like the buffalo album was chewed up by a pitbull..

FYI: See my avatar Halo. He found his first coin at a year & half in the front yard buried nine inches deep.

As a puppy he may have chewed a lot of things, but never anything he was told not too.

By six months old he had graduated or preferred to chew 2x4's and baseball bats in half and has never (thus far) showed any interest in chewing a coin album. Thanks, Doug.

Just a hint, never eat finger foods (pizza, cheese sticks) and handle coins or coin wrappers after. Could take 24 hours to get your coin(s) back. Thanks, Doug.

That is verdigris, and unfortunately there is no way to get rid of it without damaging the coins. There is a product I use for small areas of verdigris called Verdi-care, but for large amounts I am afraid nothing will do.

You might try acetone first, but they are pretty far gone.
