Very nice looking 1911! Some field distractions but hardly a hit on it. I can see some luster but I can't get a good read on it.

The luster is full on the coin.
Thanks for the responses so far.
I'm getting together a small group of coins to send to NGC and think I'll include this one.

Hm, seems as if I disagree with others. Obverse marks above lincoln's forehead. Reverse 6 o clock chatter. MS63RD imho

I don't think this would make less than 65RD.

RATS! It received the dreaded "Unc details" "Altered Color" slab.
Fortunately I'm only in it for about $60 including grading.

Are you kidding me ? looks like most of us were dead wrong. To be honest I only saw about 3% of off color on that Lincoln , certainly not thinking it would slab out at altered color.

I've had two other cents come back as "Altered Color" from NGC, but this one didn't look like either one of them.
I'm going to be very hesitant about submitting red cents in the future.

How is the luster? I can't see it in the pictures.
If you want it slabbed still, put it in a window sill for a year or two and let it tone down to more of a BN. I've been able to pull this off a few times now.

The luster is wonderful! That's why I thought this one was the "real deal".
I've got a cleaned 1856 Large Cent that's been sitting on the window sill for better part of six months now. It really hasn't changed at all.
I bought that one back in 1976 when I was just getting into collecting. I thought it was original.
I guess I'm still on the learning curve.

This is why I bought only raw brown cents for old dates lincoln or slabbed. It will be way off. $60 is not a huge sum. But a detailed 1911 is not worth it. I will be mad.
