Morgan dollars and Peace dollars. The Barber series are just as bad but I was forced to start a dime, quarter, and complete a half set as they were the next set going back in time.

I would collect all the classic coin, but I focus on Morgan, Peace and Buffalo.

Don't care for Barbers either, Miss. Liberty looks too masculine. Franklins... A very ugly coin with my apologies to Ben.

I like all American coins.
I started all three Barber sets last year.

All of them. I don't actively collect by series.

I totally dislike Peace dollars. I don't have any and never will. With the Barber coinage I love only the half dollars. and I agree with one member who says very hard to locate Barbers past fine. as another member says 3 cent nickels just doesn't turn me on. To me all bust coinage is attractive ,but too darn expensive in mid circ grades.

I have quite a few series I don't collect, but for a different reason than most people. At my age (74) I want to collect sets that I think I'll complete in a relatively short period of time. That means issues such as the Barber and Seated Liberty designs I'll ignore except one of each variety for my type set. EXCEPTION: An FE/IHC set. I consider a set complete if I have all the "normal" business strikes listed in the Red Book. I ignore proofs and errors. That's why I will ONLY get one Snow variety 1856 FE. There are 9 Snow varieties but all except one is considered a proof. The S-3 can be graded as MS although some are still labeled PF (even the better TPG's don't always get it right). Sets I HAVE completed: -- Classic Head Half Cents (16 coins) -- Braided Hair Half Cents (8 coins) -- Braided Hair Cents (24 coins) (You get the idea.)

I don't collect gold coins because I think gold prices may have a ways to fall just to get back to inflation adjusted spot price. Since gold itself makes up a good deal of the value of gold coins I am not ready to collect them although I think the 20th Century gold coinage is spectacular. I don't collect the newer silver clad coins either. I like the coins I used to see as a kid when you could still find a LWH dollar in the wild. I had a bottle full of them. I did not even think about dates or mint marks.

Count me as another that can't get excited about 3 cent nickels. I think it might be the lack of interesting toning that I've seen. I'm not sure why though since it's the same combination as buffalos and jeffersons (75% copper, 25% nickel) and I've seen plenty of them with interesting toning I do own one though, but just to go in my type set.

I try to collect all coins but Gold ones are just a bit on the expensive side.

I guess I'm fussier than most here. Classic series I don't collect (other than as part of a type set): - 2 cent - 3 cent - Half Dimes- shield and Liberty nickels- Barber coins- Peace dollars - gold dollars - early gold and other expensive stuff (earliest copper and silver, patterns, etc.)
