It is a fun box to do, I was thinking others might be doing one. There is some interesting observations. The roll of Canadian silver dimes was the shortest. A roll of Mercury dimes, not slick but worn are the next shortest. Shortest Mercury roll weighs 121.5 grams tallest Mercury 124.1 grams I could put 2 or 3 more dimes on top shortest, to fill that roll. Most of the BU rolls I have come across are 1964, or early 60's. I did have a roll of Barber dimes, but purchased a Dansco and put them in that. I often wonder if when I get older, it might be nice to get a treasure chest ... And fill it with silver coins. Maybe a medium size box. Before I die ... bury in the ground somewhere ... And leave a map with my will.

I have a nice spot available in my backyard if you are looking for a safe place.

Quote: The 90% is nice to have stashed away, but lately I have been buying 10oz bars. $150ish/bar shipped is hard to pass up. That's what I've been doing as well. Quote: think a nice stack of 10oz bars would look really Nice
Maybe I will try that some day Of course what you have right there represents EIGHTEEN 10-oz bars...

Love it,very nice! Lol I have a smal treasure chest in the middle of my coin table I love it but I overflowed that long ago but there's not only silver in there. My silver collection is all over the place (1oz world coins, ase, quarters, half dollars, small bars, atb's,few dimes but want more) just can't decide what I like to stack the most-guess I just love all of it so I buy the flavor of the week when it strikes me

Sounds like you have quite a stash going Slamnbass The treasure chest idea has been with me for a long time. In my mind I am thinking a chest that would hold somewhere around 2500oz. maybe as high as 5000oz. I am not sure how much I have right now, but I also like all the difference types of silver. The next box I will try to finish is a 10 roll quarter box, that has almost 7 rolls at this time. World 1oz coins are also some of my favorites, those are building up nicely. When I imagine what a filled treasure box would look like, I think some 10oz bars would fit right in.

That is an awesome goal and would be a lot of fun to look at-you may have to leave a few silver chains/necklaces hanging over the sides lol. My stash isn't as big as it sounds yet but I'm getting there sometimes the kids slow the progress down haha. I also love comm half dollars but havent gotten too far with those yet, its a marathon not a sprint I guess...

Sterling silver necklaces and bracelets are cheap, and you can usually find them at most thrift shops. I've picked up 7 or 8 charm bracelets at savers for $3.00 - $4.00. It would definitely look cool spilling out the side of a treasure chest. You could easily pick up some lower grade gemstones to scatter in the chest too.

That is a good idea. I see a lot of silver necklaces and rings being sent off to be melted every week. Also gold. I will have to keep a eye out, for some that will look good in a treasure chest. That stuff I can pick up for melt.
