I seem to get a lot of 1965 quarters in change around here.
Also, regarding mint marks and the area in which we reside, I see almost exclusively "D" mint coins here! It gets aggravating after a while. I roll hunt mostly LHCs and I would bet 80% of them are Denver mint, 15% Philly and the rest SF.

Years of roll searching and nada one silver quarter. Very nice finds in every other denomination, but no luck with quarters. I have put many 64 to present sets together out of circulation and hoard 82 and 83's, but no silver... boo. But I still love the thrill of the hunt! 32D is out there waiting for me to find it! lol

I haven't found a silver quarter in many years, but I've never tried searching rolls either. I, too get many 1965's, and 66, and 67s here in Texas. Mostly D's too. Anytime I get an uncirculated roll of new coins they're always D-mints. Several Bicentennials also, which I have always kept.
I have only one mint set, and it's a 1981. What was it that was possibly special about these?

There was a Type 1 and a Type 2 for the 81 quarter mint proof set. Or is yours the mint set?

All the 1981 proofs appear with a regular "S" and with another with larger and more bulbous serifs. The second type have premiums and the cent and dollar have significant premiums.
There are two different types in the 1981 mint set as well but the second type appears only on the Philly quarter. This is the "small motto" or type "d" reverse.
This reverse appears on all of the 1977 to '84 quarters with the lone exception of the '82-P. Interestingly only the "1981-P" appears in mint sets.
About one 1981 mint set in 160 has the type "d" quarter. It is characterized by a lower relief and different lettering. The easiest way to spot it is the distance fromn the right side of the "N" in "UNUM" is much further from the eagle's head on the type "d".
Some of these quarters are quite scarce and worth saving even in very low grade. The '77 and '78 are the lowest mintage and the '77 and '78-D might not exist in unc. The later dates are quite common except in high grade. Surprisingly the most common unc is either the '83-D or the '81-P but the '83-P is common as well. Probably about 20,000 of each of these survive in unc.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Is there some type of site that explains the different reverses (A-D) for the quarter? Kind of like how Coneca has the RDV for cents and ODV for dimes.

The software blows away all the links I post here. Go to the PCGS coin forum and type in "type b". It will get you to all of them if you follow the links. Look for the thread; "1968 S (1969 D) Quarter Type B and 3 Other Reverse Varieties" Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I have a 66 in my pocket right now. Never found a silver in circulation, and I've been discouraged from quarter roll hunting for silver by other members on the forum. It would be fun if I finally found one, but I'm sure I would have to go through several 1000 dollars worth. I keep 76ers I find, I have about 6 so far. I only started collecting coins about 2 years ago.
