I have a limited budget, so I'll be getting G-VG hopefully. I was able to complete the dime set, and all but two of the quarters. I never thought I'd start any of these sets, it's just that I had lots of loose Barber coins laying around, so I finally went through to see what all I had.

Barber half dollars are great. It's my favorite series. I have a full rim Dansco set going as well as a F-XF set going. Here is my F-XF set if you feel like killing some time.

Wow LogPotato those are some nice halves! Congratulations on a fantastic collection. I'm just looking for one XF+ for my type set and it's not easy, I can't imagine what went into assembling your set.
Rest in Peace

Wow tater, that is one nice set of Barber halves. Was it put together by yourself, if so how long ago?

I have been working on and off on this set of half dollars for about 4 years. Most were bought in the holder but a good chunk were bought in other holders or raw. It's a fun and challenging set and I still have plenty of holes to fill.

I plan on starting a Barber dime set after I finish my Mercury dime set. I probably have 25 to start out with. Is there many keys and semi keys in the Barber dime set?

Justin, if I can complete the dime set, you surely can. Right off hand, I'd have to say the 1895-o was the only expensive coin in that set.

Justinwd - There are quite a few keys in the dime set, but it largely depends in the grade you are collecting. Just like the quarter and half set. The 95-O, as thecoinguy1964 said, will cost a bit in any grade. Most other dates below VG won't be too much of a hassle. There are a handful of dates in the G4 range that may cost around $40 or more depending on the condition of the coin.

LogPotato- very impressive, sir. I'm itching to start a new set soon, and the Barber half dollar series is one I'm looking into.

I hope you decide to, Darth. If you plan on collecting in the lower end to mid grade range, I'm always open to conversation. I'm not very strong in the MS grade range though.

I appreciate that, Log. These coins were such work horses in their day, just like Buffalo nickels. I would most definitely collect in the G-VF range. However, I'm sure I could maybe sneak in a few XF coins too. Still kinda "series shopping" right now.
