As I've mentioned before, I always watch for Bob Armstrong flips. In Toronto last November I was surprised when one of the other RCNA course attendees (a dealer) mentioned that Bob was known for whizzing his coins. I had never heard that before and found it hard to believe because I've never seen it in the coins I've handled. I don't recall viewing an over-graded coin in one of his holders.

Well, I've looked at 100's, if not 1000's of Bob's coins and never saw a whizzed one. However, I don't collect 63+ coins, which is where you might see something. But, knowing him and his pedigree, I'd say that the person you talked to was just jealous.

Bob whizzing his coins is a new one for me.

I never would have thought it and I certainly don't believe it.

Can someone please post a pic of a coin in a Bob Armstrong 2x2 ?
It would go a long way to help those who are unfamiliar with his legacy.

Sean Isaacs has a similar, distinctive style as well... he spent a lot of time with Bob Armstrong in his younger days.

Never had the pleasure and am sad that it never happened.

I've only heard the best about his great grading ability and I'm sure that some of my nicer ones did pass through his hands.

For me, it's all about the social aspect of meeting like minds at these coin shows and enjoying the moment.

I never had ANY problems with Bob. I am aware of a certain numismatic company who attempt to copy his hand writing and I would definitely believe that they would whiz a coin. It is NOT Shawn either.

I am infinitely glad to hear the comments about Bob and whizzing ... I was really taken aback when I heard it and am very happy it doesn't seem valid.

I never knew Bob, but likely have crossed paths with him from time to time not knowing who he was. But judging by the writing on the coin chequer posted earlier in this thread, I must have a few 100 of his labelled coins in my collection (and none of them are whizzed).
