I did not know we were supposed to be looking for Bar nickels ...

Gr58, only if you like them, there is a small premium associated with them

I posted that with a smile. I like having new coins to
look for.

I did pick one up today, but now I am thinking I might
have had a couple already ...

So now I have to look through hundreds od nickel to see
if I had any.

Thanks JC, I think I like it even more now. Do you know if there are any other than the 60, 61, and 62 dates?
GR58, I think you're hooked on them already. If you get a chance show us your new one.

They did look like Cuds to me. There are on the edge of the die. Thanks for that link JC Stevens.

So they are classified as Bar Nickels in any year the die breaks in the specified areas. Appreciate the info and link JC. One day I will find a Modern Bar Nickel.

I agree, like having another nickel to look for when I CRH. I'd never heard of these before now, but doubt I would miss one, there really noticeable. Thanks for info guys.
I'm wonderin how common are these bar nickels?

GR58, if it's good, it's worth waiting for. A nice one indeed! Maybe the two you took to the bank are the two I found.
JC, I'd like to see your four if you're so inclined.
Yes BB, they have always been collected; they were promoted along with BIE cents and a few others to promote interest in our hobby. You're right, they can't be missed, even a blind person could feel them. Their commonality is like most coins, there are less in circulation from the older years, and have the potential to still be manufactured (unlike RPM's).

Brushy , I don't know about now but they were very common in the 60's as I have accumulated a couple of rolls of these 1960-D bar nickels.

Interesting box I've got going, but I found these 4 so far (AU/AU+) and a couple other circulated coins.
