R1974 is correct about the initials, but the value is more like 2-1 in the higher grades.

BluegrassRiver is correct about nothing (posted) and has obviously already started on the Guiness a couple days early!

BluegrassRiver is absolutely correct, but the float method only works on the summer solstice... they discovered this method at a wishing well in a rural suburb of Boston during the summer of 1910 after all the non v.d.b. 1909's floated to the top... the rarity of the 1909 v.d.b. varieties can be attributed to the fact that most v.d.b.'s are still sitting at the bottom of wishing wells and the normal 1909's were returned to circulation. But remember this ONLY works on the summer solstice

As they say Al - you have to check your six (o'clock)

Or VDB, six o'clock low!

Can you tell I am reading a book about WWII air power?

OP is in the Southern hemisphere so the opposite is true; the V.D.B.s float there and the normal cents sink.
