I just saw now a discussion by Metalenchefalon on vw message board asking about VAM-14 proofs.
Interesting...

Yeah, he did pick up a really nice VAM14. I'll ping him to take a look at this one.

Beautiful Morgan! One of the best looking PL Morgan dollars I have seen.

I am not 8TF pro, but definitely not a VAM-14. Can you get a more clear photo of the feathers? There are a couple of reverse types that look like that may be close, but hard to tell. Is there a small dot in the gap next to the eagle's left leg? Any other markers you notice such as doubling or polish lines...?

I've got 2 new pictures of obverse and reveerse. These are same pics but better quality.

Here are links to high resolution pics:

Here is a cropped pic of the TF with what seems to be a die gouge in bottom eagle's right wing (or just image deformation..)

I mean absolutely no disrespect to this amazing site, but if you are a member of VW it is probably a good idea to post there first as there are many VERY well educated and studied VAM scholars there who can likely be of assistance. Good luck sir ;)

Are we in agreement of authenticity here guys? I must say I can't point to something specific on a 2 minute glance but my spidy sense is tingling for some reason. Maybe it's just too nice or its the photography style but the hairs are up ?

How I already wrote on vw forum, often I am not really comfortable writing on vw because often you there is very technical talk that is hard for me to follow, but I often go out first here on ccf because it was the first forum where I asked for help on vams. But I know also that on vw Message board there other VAM experts and that's Why I posted also there.

About the coin I just have to wait to have the coin in hands and then will post other pics to see if it is counterfeit.

Thanks

Hopefully it's the real deal, but I do have my reservations. The experts on VAMworld seem to be cautious as well.

Not a genuine coin. It is a spurious copy.
