Newbie - that looks like toning from an album.
I love toned coins, especially coins with crusty original toning that don't have market acceptable cleaning.

Silverdollar, Would this "album" toning be something toned collectors look for? I'm completely lost on the toned coin thing!

Love them. As a chemist (and as a fly rod builder who routinely anodizes titanium) I'm enchanted by oxidation of metals and heavy metals. And hey, it's my hobby, so if someone else doesn't like em, that's just fine too.

I personally love toning. I think it shows the time the coin has been around.

Kinda depends, doesn't it. Some are irresistible, some are downright ugly.

Toned or oddly plated coins are my favorite, here's a few I've kept.

If that is the soft 2X2, they are being exposed to PCV damage from the soft flips. Best to get them in the the hard flips or 2X2's soon.

I have a LWC that has some of the coolest toning I ever saw, have no idea how it happened, but its super cool so I like it. I have the 2009 Lincoln 4 cent series that are in Proof and have a weird toning and I'm on the fence on that one. So it can be either.

Those coins would look a lot better with holes drilled in them & a few whacks from a big hammer
