Thanks. I added a couple of pics to my initial post. There are 12-inch mirrors on the obverse and 8-inch mirrors on the reverse, so I'm confident it would pass the DMPL threshold.

MS63PL - The coin may not have enough contrast to go DMPL.

We'll see, Slider. Just shipped it off today. I think it has enough contrast...pics just aren't great. I'll let everyone know when I get it back.

I received the grade on this one, but I still don't know if they gave it the PL or DMPL designation, so I'll wait to post the result. In the meantime, I managed to get a pic from the original seller, which shows a better obverse than my image. I also had ANACS take photos of the coin, so I hope to share those in time as well.

This coin looks DMPL for sure.

The yellow cast worries me; that's usually a sign of juiced photos when it comes to PL Morgans.

Well, I got the final grade, and it came back MS-63 Cameo PL.

That's a very acceptable grade! Not bad at all. I have a '79-S in 64PL and it looks as good as some of my DMPL coins.

Thanks, Paralyse. I agree. I have some slabbed PL Morgans that look just as nice, if not better, than some of my slabbed DMPL coins. I'm satisfied with the grade and designation, but I was still hoping for DMPL. The mirrors are deep (well over the threshold) and the contrast and coverage appear to be there, so I'm not sure why it didn't qualify, but Cameo PL is still pretty respectable. I guess it all comes down to appearance in the end, and it's a very nice coin, so I'm happy with it.

From your photos the reverse may have held the coin back from the DMPL tag as the frost on the devices may be a little weak. 10 years ago the coin most likely would have been graded DMPL, but today the PL & DMPL designation is a little better defined on what makes a PL & DMPL coin as the TPG's have tightened the standard. You have a very nice coin that has most of the attributes of a DMPL.

Thanks, Slider. I think the reverse could have held it back, too. The obverse has stronger mirrors and more frost.
