Agree. I am not well versed on counterfeits in this series, so I won't offer an opinion, but I certainly would be concerned about the de-listing and the general level of concern by other members.

NSS - great comparison points. Its a very good cast copy to say the least. If ebay removed it there's your further answer. I pointed this out to Bobby which could mean he took a look and was not confident in the piece and/or the ebay contact was (simply) alerted.

I'd stay away, but if you do buy it, send it off the next day to ANACS, and make sure the seller agrees to refund if not genuine.

nss-52, thanks for lining up the pics and circling the points of interest. I found it very helpful.

This is pure gambling. CHD - I'll tell you what I tell everyone else including myself -- if $300 is a low enough amount of money that you'd never even know it was gone from your wallet and not be likely to shed a tear if it blew away in the wind -- go for it. There is a chance that you may be richly rewarded with a great coin at a bargain price.
If you have even the slightest bit of doubt about the chance of losing $300 and gaining nothing in return, don't do it.

Thanks for the lineup NSS. There is something we all missed - the tail feathers at the end.
Genuine coin has a little feather at the end near its butt.
The fake and the coin in the listing, do not...

paralyse - I'm not going to risk it now, haha.
and $300 is quite a bit for me.. It's money that'll probably go toward a 5 speed miata drift car when my insurance drops when I'm 18, or 21.

My one concern is how many different sets of tires I'll be getting every few months...

You have to ask yourself this question: "Why would the seller deliberately leave money on the table?" There's no way he wants to give you a "gift". It is highly unlikely that he thinks this thing is real, because then he'd send it in for authentication.

CHD,
How did you pick up the low end tail feather? It is very obvious fake once the tail feather is noted. When I looked at the coin, the out of focus photos made it hard to evaluate. I guess you now know why the seller was so willing to work with you on a large discount for a key date.

ebay buyer protection will protect you sort of. If it is fake you could get your money back if it is within a certain time limit, but could you determine it fast enough? It would probably require a TPG to determine for certain and by the time you send it to them, they grade it, and return it to you, the protection period may have elapsed.

The fake and the coin in the listing, do not... I think the tips of the wing feathers look more pointed on the fake than on the genuine coin. I feel like I'm playing "What's wrong with this picture?" and it is helping me to really notice things.
