Drew , I've been studying the photo's of the 1921 SLQ'S ,and I can't find anything wrong with the one you want . As far as color goes it's so minutely off it's not even worth to mention . However I do not want to be the one to say , go ahead and grab it . I think your going to find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place . your call !

Great question... I didn't purchase it so I'm fine. If I do want to purchase it, I can contact the seller at anytime. He's really chill about it.

Still going to wait for more opinions & until he weighs it to determine what I should properly do.

Drew, if ebay removed it, it was probably because it was reported to their special person as a fake.

Think about this for a moment:
If the seller knows it is a fake, they can tell you whatever weight they think you want to hear, not necessarily the actual weight.

If the seller knows it is a fake, of course he is "chill about it". He knows he has a fish on the hook and all he has to do is pull on the line a little to set the hook, then reel you in.

You should get an email from ebay telling you that you DO NOT HAVE to pay.

Now, ask yourself why you want to still buy this. Is it because it is such a great deal? You think you are getting a $400-500 coin for $300? You are shaking with excitement at the thought? Is it because the seller only has a few feedback and you think they don't know what they are doing? Are you trying to take advantage of the seller by working out a below market value?

Have you ever tried to use the ebay money back guarantee when you claimed the coin was a counterfeit? What if they hold in the seller's favor?

Look at the comparison below, is the coin more like the genuine coin or like the fake coin?

I would not take a chance on this coin. There are too many red flags.

Agree. I am not well versed on counterfeits in this series, so I won't offer an opinion, but I certainly would be concerned about the de-listing and the general level of concern by other members.

NSS - great comparison points. Its a very good cast copy to say the least. If ebay removed it there's your further answer. I pointed this out to Bobby which could mean he took a look and was not confident in the piece and/or the ebay contact was (simply) alerted.

I'd stay away, but if you do buy it, send it off the next day to ANACS, and make sure the seller agrees to refund if not genuine.
Rest in Peace

This is pure gambling. CHD - I'll tell you what I tell everyone else including myself -- if $300 is a low enough amount of money that you'd never even know it was gone from your wallet and not be likely to shed a tear if it blew away in the wind -- go for it. There is a chance that you may be richly rewarded with a great coin at a bargain price.

If you have even the slightest bit of doubt about the chance of losing $300 and gaining nothing in return, don't do it.

Thanks for the lineup NSS. There is something we all missed - the tail feathers at the end.

Genuine coin has a little feather at the end near its butt.

The fake and the coin in the listing, do not...

paralyse - I'm not going to risk it now, haha.

and $300 is quite a bit for me.. It's money that'll probably go toward a 5 speed miata drift car when my insurance drops when I'm 18, or 21.

You have to ask yourself this question: "Why would the seller deliberately leave money on the table?" There's no way he wants to give you a "gift". It is highly unlikely that he thinks this thing is real, because then he'd send it in for authentication.

CHD,

How did you pick up the low end tail feather? It is very obvious fake once the tail feather is noted. When I looked at the coin, the out of focus photos made it hard to evaluate. I guess you now know why the seller was so willing to work with you on a large discount for a key date.

ebay buyer protection will protect you sort of. If it is fake you could get your money back if it is within a certain time limit, but could you determine it fast enough? It would probably require a TPG to determine for certain and by the time you send it to them, they grade it, and return it to you, the protection period may have elapsed.
