That's outrageous , maybe you should have asked if they had any more like that or any other weird looking coins ? Yes , silver is still out there .

I really was stunned when I first noticed it. After I got over the shock, I naturally checked to see if it was a 16-D.

Judging from the number of responses to this thread, it appears that you're really milking this modest find .... congrats!

Got milk?

Heck, I hardly ever see any pre-1960 nickels anymore.

I get a silver dime or 40% War Nickel every once in a while. I got a dime in change in a restaurant and thanked the waitress. She had no idea that dimes were ever made from silver.

I think I'd be trying to see how many bottles of milk I could fit in my refrigerator. All bottles purchase one at a time for maximum change! Congratulations.

In all my years now, I've never found change older than 1966. I continue to be stunned and amazed at shares like this and slightly cynical in some cases (note: this is not necessarily a cynical occasion) however, not all tales are of the fairy-like nature and in some cases I am happy for the recipient ((note: this is not necessarily a happy occasion). However, I will typical just move along and not bother to comment when the tale seems too tall because what's the point? I am empowering poor behavior and that's feeding the fire.

I haven't seen silver in change for a long time, but to be honest, I've hardly paid for anything in cash for more than 10 years, except at coin shows. I imagine people that use cash all the time and come home with a pocket full of change every day see silver and other rare coins a lot.

I pay everything except gas with cash. I get WAY more silver from the reject bin at coinstar machines than back in change. I very rarely ever get lucky enough the receive a silver in change.
