Interesting, it looks like the misaligned die broke the collar..

Just a guess as the only broken collar coins I've had were all Dimes..

As others have said, this 1989-P nickel was struck within a broken collar. The upper margin of the collar's working face broke off, accounting for about 90 arc degrees.

I appreciate all of the input and opinions...but again..I haven't seen a broken collar example similar to this nickel...I think it might be worth sending out to be certified.

This is one of the more common collar Cuds available in the marketplace (I've owned several). They usually sell for about $35 on ebay.

Funny...I can't find a collar Cud or broken collar error similar to this anywhere..including ebay..if anyone finds one..please post the link here..I would appreciate it.
