Hard to tell with the pictures provided but I would guess EF-40 at best and I agree that it looks cleaned. As a rule of thumb, I stay away from third party graded coins other than PCGS, NGC, or ANACS and especially stay away from graded coins that dont have an individual serial number for the coin. Also, stay away from those companies that have no website or a generic website that has no submission or population info. This seller is probably buying the slabs somewhere and printing up his own labels, or having someone do it for him to boost profits.

By the way, I looked through more of that seller's auctions and all the coins seem way overgraded. Take a look at the 1878-CC Morgan graded as MS-67 DMPL. From the closeup of the coin it has scratch marks all over the obverse indicating some harsh cleaning being done to it. The reverse shows the same scratch lines.

hmm...sorry about not following the rules. I'll be more careful next time.
Yeah, I figured it was overgraded. I think the selling point to me is whether or not it is truly a MICRO O. Even a low-grade micro-O is worth $30, so I'll keep it if that is the case....if not, back to the seller it goes with some negative feedback for mislabeling.
I feel sorry for all the poor chaps that are paying hundreds of dollars for even more common date morgans from this seller.

Hello Johnny,
Welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy reading and posting here; I know I do!
Your plan sounds like a good one. If it's a true micro-O mintmark, it would be worth $30 even in what looks to be "EF-details, cleaned" condition. If not, send it back. Please try to post images when you get the coin, especially detail photos of the mintmark if possible.
Again, welcome!

Really? I thought that they were made by DELL! Bummer... That coin is harshly cleaned with low XF details. I doubt it's even a Micro O. quote: AT COINMADZ YOU ARE TREATED LIKE FAMILY!
I'd hate to be in his family.

Did anyone click on the feedback number? I'm not sure I understand why the seller has 100% feedback but have negatives in the past 12 months - unless that's the result of the recent feedback change. If so, a quick glance at the feedback % is useless.

Coinhunter is correct it is an XF coin and harshly cleaned. Worth maybe the value of a F coin at best. The bad part is that from what I see it is NOT a micro O.

Well I got the coin today. I must say, you guys are all COMPLETELY right! The coin is junk, and looks even worse in life than it did in the pics. I'd argue it is more in the VF range. And it is not the micro-O. I feel ripped off; but I wont get refunded shipping if I send it back, plus Ill have to pay shipping again to send it! Its almost worth it just to keep it and chalk one up to experience. I really dont understand how he has 100% feedback. And someone just bought an 1887-s that looks just like mine for $867! Do you think he is bidding on himself to make his junk coin look better? Who knows, I'm a little mystified by this seller.

If its not a micro-o you could probably file a complaint with ebay due to false advertising. They are serious about that. Also, you you paid with paypal you can open up a paypal dispute.

Welcome to the forum johnny! yeah you need to report it or he will keep ripping off people. Mlfly ebay when they made all the changes earlier in the year with the price to sell listings and all that did change there feedback policy. I think after 12 months negative feedback is of no effect. bad in a lot of ways. Good for the people who mess up accidentally and have to be scared by someone who is mad and wants to leave bad feedback. When I was first new to ebay not knowing much about it I was signed in and I was looking at an object and I clicked buy it now accidentally scrolling through the page and got left bad feedback b/c I didnt want the item I tried to talk to the guy but he wouldnt listen Just said won my auction refused to pay. But now it makes you confirm when you click it but not then.

Welcome, this guy is one of the biggest crooks selling coins on ebay! I love the phrase in the red box. "Think Smart! put your money in the coin-not in the fancy name on the holder!" Hopefully you'll get your money back if you send them the coin back. That coin is worth melt value after what he's done to it, if it's real. But at least you were treated like family.

It is quite possible. Now that ebay has "taken steps to stop fraud" by making all the bidders ids hidden, I'm sure a lot of shady sellers are now shill bidding their own auctions because it is now impossible for real bidders to identify the shilling.
