Jaobler the Ding on the I of united is not a Ding its raised above the I. I think there was a die chip missing from the die in that area

I really like those coin surfaces. Very nice coin. I really don't know the grade by the picture, I'll say 58-62.

I have no skill at grading MS coins, but based on the "no one has come close" hint, I'll say 'MS-65 BN.'

I have one very similar and I graded it out at 45+, so this is my guess.

There's a lot of good detail to this coin, especially for a die with the amount of wear this one has making it appear to be an MS. Then again, I'm seeing what appears to be crud of some sort in the denticles & around the letters on the reverse, which makes me think it's in the high AU range. I'll admit it, I'm confused.

Be careful Jim1953 this coin is not what it seems at first glance.

This is yet another case where the pictures might not be telling the whole picture. The pictures really show no luster and the surfaces don't appear to be near gem-like. The surfaces appear lifeless. Richard, how are you taking these pictures/scans? Could you experiment with the lighting?

Yes there is a lot I could do with the lighting but I am waiting for my new camera to arrive before I start spending a lot of time with the set up the coin looks flat but has full mint luster even red in places. I will take better pics as soon as I have worked out how to use my new toy.
