to CCF!The cent is a damaged coin, and the Dime appears to be an off center strike. Very nice

your cent in my opinion IS NOT damaged..appears to be a damaged planchet before strike..note the weak strike opposite to the planchet damage..this is a result of a lack of pressure during the strike due to a lack of metal.

please keep the cent away from the elements..something secure, dry and airtight..the zinc exposed on it can begin rotting quite easily and it will be ruined.

I think I agree with dollarman. The copper/zinc line runs through the shield corner and "OF" but the details don't seem to be affected. Could the planchet have been punched near the edge of a sheet where the plating ended and the metal thinned?

Cent is definitely an error. Nice defective planchet. Pretty cool error....thanks for sharing.

I concur. Both are errors. The cent is very nice. While I am out of touch with the prices of this type of error, it would definitely be worth selling.

The opposite sides also would be a great help. I can tell it the plating changes color slowly or not. A closer image would be extremely helpful. Try using a magnifier to help us a bit more.

The cent is struck on a partially plated cent due to pre-strike damage. Otherwise you could describe it as being struck on a damaged planchet. The error itself isn't that impressive, but the host coin is. While errors of this date are relatively uncommon, there seem to be quite a few minor errors like this. I have seen maybe 5 shield cents with similar issues sell on ebay; unfortunately I don't remember what they sold for. Your best bet will be to list it on ebay with an accurate title, in the correct category, to get the best price.
