E-bay is one good place to look for coins. There are many other online options.
Many good coin shops exist online with guarantees, layaways, clear return policies, high res pictures, large selection, and competitive and sometimes negotiable prices.
Is it allowed to plug online coin dealers here?
An easy method of finding coin dealers is google images, search for the coin type you are interested in, among all the images that come up many are from coin shops. I have 4 favorites I shop regularly.

I have only used ebay twice for coin purchase the first one was a good deal and 2 day shipment. Second one was a fare price and took 4 weeks. I prefer to use on line dealers. But I still search ebay. Can't belive what people pay for junk coins. Seeking :Timely deliveries Rainman

I bought 90% of my coins (over 100 items) on ebay. I only had one bad experience and one OK experience.

I sold a guy 25 mercurys a few months back. I sent them right away. He contacted me after 10 days - no coins. This went on for awhile and he finally got them after 18 days. But that's the only time I had a problem. Once I ordered some simple coin supplies (2x2's) from a coin store on e-bay - took 2 weeks to get 'em and that was because they were slow - not USPS. I also agree about with the comment on checks - if you sent a personal check - that could seriously delay things.

Make sure you stay on top of the ebay reporting however. After a certain length of time you lose your right to dispute the auction. This would suck to lose your money and your right to dispute the transaction.
