If they ever catch these people, the penalty should be severe! Just make sure they don't prosecute them in California. They will just get a slap on the hand.

Nah, they'll be prosecuted in China and when they show the government how profitable it can be, they'll get a new partner.

I know this is an old thread...
One step in the right direction would be for every graded coin to have high quality photos taken. But without having to pay a big premium for that.

Steve, Having a publicly available database where buyers can verify the coin for sale against the one actually graded would be a good start. Here the coin becomes the primary determinant for authenticity, and not any slab that can be easily forged. Of course, this would need to be all-inclusive, and not just a "tacked-on" service.

NGC offers that exact service for all coins graded from now on, and have 750,000 images so far

$5 to reholder a coin ;) more and more worth it now for premium coins you are going to want to sell later. Better holder (chemical construction etc), better hologram, imaging at NGC.. for $5 plus post. If I was in the states I would send my whole collection registered mail today.

I believe there is a simple solution to the whole thing. Buy raw coins.

I think it's time for PCGS to come out with a redisgned holder. This could also help them boost sales as people go to get older slabs reslabbed.
I buy nearly all raw coins and I am staying away from Chinese coins due to fears with counterfeits in the marketplace. I sold all my Chinese coins except for a silver coin which I plan to keep (it's only $20 if it ends up being fake).
