I applied to NGC a couple of years ago to be an authorized dealer and was denied. I meet all the requirements except I do know know 3 other authorized NGC or PCGS dealers to supply as references. This is because I live in a small mountain community and there are no other coin shops close by.
Two friends and I are starting a coin club next week which should help me meet other collectors and possibly dealers, but until then I am stuck. Any suggestions.

Try asking a long distance dealer you've done business with. Or go to a national(nearest one) coin show, introduce yourself to a older, friendly dealer, explain your dilemma and emphasise you will not be competition to him, because of your isolation.
