Price has climbed to $75 from some dealers.

Proof sets are already being broken apart with the coins sold individually for a combined total of $270.

The silver dollar from the proof set has some gold plating. The single one sell out alert is a bit different, it's solid silver coloured.

The only way to purchase the gold-plated version or any other single silver coin in the silver proof set is buying the proof set for $225 so it's become fairly common each year for sets to get broken up so buyers can just buy the one coin they want. Sure one might get lucky by breaking up sets and making a profit but it's a losing proposition if it doesn't all sell because then one is left with a set with missing coins.

But that's okay with me. The more sets that get broken up, the greater the chance the value of the intact set will be sustained.

The 2017 SD and both sets with the SD are sold out at the mint. However CP outlets still have both sets at issue if anyone still wishes to pick one up.

It unusual recent for recent years, but looks like the demand for this 20.000 mintage Silver Dollar excesses the offerings.

In other words, according to other forum, RCM shows total sold out. Only few / or even one dealer in North America has the coin in stock.
Gatewest raises a prices and sets a limit for purchase.

Means, many many collectors want to own this piece.
Will it be popular - only time will tell....
But for people who surely do not want miss it - better to load monster box right away.

I think there are a few reasons:

- it is a nice coin, looks much better in hand than the pictures,
- previous SDs sold out since RCM no longer sells the BU version,
- released early in the calendar year,
- part of the Canada 150 marketing blitz.

Yes dealers are raising their prices, most who were selling at issue are now out-of-stock.

I personally like the design, and properly...in line with other SD's.
But since not dedicated SD collector, I prefer to see what will be other Silver Dollars this year, and then choose the best for me.
I don't afraid to overpay if needed $10-$15, but do not believe this type of coin will be hard or impossible to get in the future for issue or below.

CA dropped a price to CAD 62.49
But only 45 left.
Looks like - no rush here. No one wants to overpay for simple Silver Dollar.

The coin is currently unavailable or is shown as "Sold Out" or "Out of Stock" at: J&M, Gatewest, Canadian C&C, Canada Post, West Edmonton, Albern and London Coin Centre.

It appears that there might be a little rush on the coin.

I watched this one on C/A site after commems posted this topic http://goccf.com/t/278440#278440

They had 60 or so of them, and then there was run on them. I ordered when stock was reduced to less than 25. Then a day later the stock went back up. Dunno if they received more or just updated their on-line inventory (the Mint was already sold out at that point).

In any case this one does seem to be hard to find in either version.

So this is the guy that I saw in the Toronto FunExpo in the 2014.
He is responsible for design of not a few RCM coins....
