Quote:4 V nickels - 1901, 1902, 1911, 1912-D Hey, John77, you are an impressive CRHunter! Four V-nickels in one day, in one roll, including a mintmark; I'm impressed. I would have like to have seen those come out of the roll! It is still January, and your V nickel talley for the year is already four. I'll do my best to catch up!

I stopped after I poured about of 1/3 of the coins out... I couldn't believe my eyes! The ONLY other thing that compares to this was 30 years ago when I poured out a roll of nickels when I was a cashier at a fast food place and it was loaded with 15 War Nickels, 24 other Jeffersons dated 1940-1954, and an AU 1942 Canadian nickel... And yes, good luck catching my 2017 V nickel tally!

Their kid probably stole them for candy or something. Lucky for you.

Fantastic find, John77!
I've found buffalo dumps before, but never a liberty dump.

Thanks, guys... it still feels like a dream... some of the 19 pickling nickels are beginning to show dates. I can now confirm one is a 1924. Will post dates as the week progresses and into next week. One of the dateless coins is an "S" mint, so I am anxiously awaiting this one's date being revealed.

UPDATE: 7 of the 'dateless' coins have been successfully 'pickled'... they are: 1917-S, 1918-S, 1919 (2), 1923, and 1924 (2)... the 1917-S, 1919, and 1923 are all hole fillers.

Excellent finds John77. A friend who volunteers at The Salvation Army gave me a heart attack. A family did a bereavement clean out and turned over an old trunk full of clothing for donation. At the bottom of the trunk they found an envelope with some older bills which they put in the register and some coin rolls which they took to the bank. I'd just like to know what was in those rolls.

Thanks, mvl9591... If I were in your shoes, I would've asked what bank they took those to... I've now got dates on all but 7 of the coins... the added date from the past week are: 1913 Type II, 1914, 1917, 1918 (2)... those are in addition to the previous "pickled" coins: 1917-S, 1918-S, 1919 (2), 1923, and 1924 (2)
