The details do not look suspect to me, and I think I detect some lustre remaining around the devices. Perhaps it spent some time in the dryer, or else someone began turning it into a ring at some point in its early life?

. Even in 64, 50 cent counterfeit halves wouldn't net much profit.

looks like post mint damage which could be a reason why the rims are smooth? Doesn't look suspect.

Spooned coin? Pics aren't sharp enough for me to see dryer damage on the face of the coin, but that could be it too.

I think that is actually a real, but damaged coin. Go to your local coin dealer and get your $5 - $6 for it.

Authentic 1964 Kennedy with post mint issues. Value is silver melt.

I agree, you have a real and damaged coin that is going to be worth its weight in silver.

I would be inclined to keep it as a pocket piece just to see what some wear and time could do for it.

It's possibly a Dryer Coin, or also looks like the start of a coin ring, made by tapping the edge with the back of a spoon.

It looks like the remains of gold plating are left on it. Perhaps it was in a piece of jewelry, and the rim and reeding were upset as a part of the mounting process.
