Buying Coin's Online?

if anyone buys that they should be slapped

I would think that you're best bet would be to find a eBayer and get to know him (ie buy a couple cheap coins and examine grades, picture accuracy and shipping costs) and then buy a more expensive coin. There is even one guy I've gone through enough now that I have actually emailed him and asked if he had any of the particular coin I was seeking (a 1883 WC V nickel I think it was). He didnt have one, but about a week later emailed me and told me he could get one but it was, in his opinion, probably more money than it was worth. It was lol--I thanked him regardless and hes now on the look out for some other coins I'm searching for.

I've bought several from grcoins.com with no problems... if anything the circulated examples I've received have been undergraded.

As to the 1909-S Lincoln Cent from Jakes, he has a photo. It is your choice whether or not to buy it. What could be fairer? Personally, I do not buy so called hole fillers. I don't mind a coin with wear, as long as it is properly graded, it just can't have any problems.

Other than ebay I primarily buy from https://www.wayneherndon.com and https://www.millersmint.com for online purchases. Millers Mint just has a crazy selection of coins. I mean they will have 100 different examples of the same date/mintmark in different grades. I like Wayne, he is local, fast shipper, sells Intercept Shield albums at the lowest prices I have found and has a decent selection. He also just opened up a new site focused on only supplies, https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com .

Everyone has different "favorite places" to shop. Try some of the suggestions and determine what the best fit for you is.

I did some mail-order purchasing in the eighties, but times have changed.

I have watched a few auctions and have browsed a few on-line dealers as well, but I have never gone through with it.

I am still watching and I still think about it. Now I am looking at these links and thinking again! Only time will tell if I have the nerve or not!

I have to thank you all for your posts, and wealth of info. Now I have more than twenty, or so site's to order from, and not enough money. Think anone can help with the latter problem? Just kidding, but thanks again for the info, try to keep the thread running, this help's not only me, but everyone looking for that next coin in there 7070.

I can recommend a few good ones for Canadian coins, but that might not be what you collect.

Odd. That is the last place on Earth I would recommend. From personal experience I have had nothing but horrible experiences with them. Not through the interenet but right there in their store. Since I live and work in the area I've probably been by or in that place hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times. Vast amount of cleaned coins, overpriced and no bargaining and rude, ignorant people. Since they are in the center of Chicago and have vast amounts of stamps, coin merchandise, ancient types of artifacts, they have little interest in coin collectors. They never participate in local coin shows and when I asked why they said just not their type of people. And not just from a recent experience. I've been in that area since that place used to be Rare Coin Company Of America in the 60's.
