Well, I care but still have no expectations. Honest. Hopes? maybe, but I don't want to be disappointed.

Do you know what your cost basis is? I don't want to know the amount -- I'm just curious about how carefully you tracked your purchases over your many years of collecting.

Not really, I could guess it was considerably more than what I am going to get. I do have a rough non-emotional guess myself how this may turn out. I think I am going to take a terrible beating on the UK and Canadian lots. They weren't doing me any good pretending they were worth more than what people will pay and I don't have the time and energy to squeeze out all I could selling them myself. I will get a fine lawnmower though. This makes me happier than having this stuff piled up and driving me crazy. When the listing catalog is done and a date is set in a week or so, I am going to have a fun little contest regarding the net amount on my settlement check.

I think I'm in the same boat regarding taking losses when I sell the bulk of my 8 reales and other world crowns collection. I've tracked my purchase and grading costs and will include my selling costs so that I have a number to use for capital losses for tax purposes. To me, it's a privilege to have these numismatic items in my possession for awhile. If that privilege comes at a cost, so be it.

I would go, but it is over 200 miles from me, and basically not near anything else. I wish you high attendance by a bunch of crazy rich impulsive coin collectors making ridiculously high bids.

Sorry if I missed it, but why are you selling? Are you just getting rid of clutter?
edited- never mind I read through the posts. I hope the auction goes well for you and thanks for posting. So many are focused on the acquisition side of the hobby. It's nice to see folks posting results of their exit plans.

Well isn't that a shame I thought I had wished you good luck but I don't see my name.
