Included is 1909 S VDB, 1921 High Relief and 1928 Peace dollars, Gold 1800's Sovereigns many type coins, many proof sets, silver proof sets, mint sets, prestiege sets. Lots of type coins, rolls of Walkers. American Eagle proof silver from 1986 up. Commemorative dollars. Large US Paper Currency. Piles of low mintage UK silver proof special crowns. Many Canadian mint and proof sets. Other country proof coins. Large cents Flying Eagle cents Indian cents, Two Cents Three Cents Twenty Cents. Just a pile of stuff. But I don't think there's a Jefferson nickel loose in the whole bunch. I kept a couple thousand nice ones to myself and a type set and some key date coins. I finally have it all fitting in the safe. Sale could be late March or early April 2017. I rented the hall, the whole day is mine. I'll post a link when I get the date and webpage. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Keep us posted! If you have any nice PCGS Morgans, especially Rattlers, I'd be interested.

What's the story behind the collection?

What's the story? 35 or 40 years of obsessive compulsive collecting. I had so much, I didn't even want to look at it anymore. Now, I can get back to enjoying what I like most. There will be pictures of about 325 or so lots. How good they will be, I can't say. That's up to the auctioneer. At his auctions there is a projected screen where people will see each lot up for bid and what the lot is while it is getting sold. I made up the lots and numbered them and described each one. He'll be sending me a catalog and he wants me to write on it what each lot should start out at for bidding. There's no reserves, who knows what this will get? I'm just glad to be getting rid of it all. Since I have been on here in CCF, I don't know if I mentioned that I completed a V nickel set. So yes, I still have my No S 1971 Proof Jefferson. I have all the dates and mintmarks of all the nickels from 1883, most of the major varieties, and all the proofs from 1938 up. Many of my Jefferson nickels were collected with "full step" collecting in mind. I have the more difficult to find Jefferson nickels in duplicates. My better Buffalo nickels are staying too along with the complete set. No, I don't have 1916 doubled die or the other handful of varieties but I do have a 3 legged 37D. My type set is just for fun. I have my Canadian tokens and Coppers. My Canadian nickel set and some other stuff. Glad it is now organized and locked up. Good thing about nickels, they're heavy, they need a forklift to pick up the safe if they want to rob me. It may be a couple/few weeks until this auction link gets online. I forgot to mention there's a few Bust halves and Seated halves and an amazing dark toned Trade dollar. I will update. The auction will be in Lairdsville PA. on a Saturday if our plan works out.

I hope you do very well on the auction. For me it would be very interesting how much a couple decades of putting coins away will bring.
I am thinking after I make my next move, I will do something similar.
I have cons boxed up .. something like your tubs. Mostly coins that I bought for future sales.
If you don't mind .. I would be curious to know how happy you will be with the outcome of the sale.

I'm already happy. I might take a guess at what it might get when I price the catalog starting bids, probably not, because I just let them go. Gone! If I expect a lot, I may be disappointed, If I don't expect much, I may be pleasantly surprised. But I don't expect anything. Maybe nobody will show up? The auctioneer seemed a little excited about it. Of course I did a lot of his work setting up the lots. It's water over the dam now. You can't take it with you when you go! ( and even if I could, I sure wouldn't want to. )

Will there be online bidding? What is the 'buyer's penalty' ? Any older foreign in that hoard? It would be fun to attend, especially to compare prices to local sales; however at ~4 hours away, location is a bit out of my typical travel zone. Be sure your auctioneer gets the word out via Auctionzip and A&AN.

His auction is listed on auctionzip, I am paying for several adverts. No buyers premium. No online bidding but I do think there will be a preview the day before, or evening before. I have attended his auctions and left maybe 30 or so bids on occasions the day beforehand on lots and won only one lot. He is selling firearms next month. I'd post a link but it isn't coin related. You can google keywords Kapps firearms auctioneer and click on the auctionzip link, not the one to his website. I will post the link to coins but it is hardly ready yet.
Yes, I do recall lots made up of foreign coins. Some old, early 1800's. I forget.

Quote: But if I "You can google keywords Kapps firearms auctioneer", my browser will be flooded with gun ads, 2nd amendment ads ... Well, that's what he's selling at the next auction. I am just pointing to my auctioneer. Replace the word with coins and see what you get. Probably nothing yet for me.It will be weeks til it shows up, I don't have a date yet. I just did that and the auctionzip link for him was top item in Google search using kapps coins auctioneer

WOW! That will be an exciting auction for sure! Wish I was closer nickelguy. I have a nice set of MS Jeffersons but not full steps or anything that would compare with yours. The only one I am missing is a nice 43/42 so if you happen to have an extra feel free to send me a message.
