The reverse rim at 1 o'clock looks a bit odd. I'm not an expert on these. They are one of the most counterfeited coins though. If you want to have some real fun, send it into ANACS for authentication.

My FREE opinion is counterfeit. I have compared your coin to a genuine coin in the images below. There are a LOT more differences than I have circled. On the obverse, detail is missing - frequent on counterfeits, rare on genuine coins. The tip of the LIBERTY ribbon is completely missing, and detail in the wheat sheaf is missing. On the reverse, the shape of the letters in UNITED are wrong, and the rim of the subject coin is uneven and just disappears above the A of America. If you obtained it on ebay, I would recommend returning it. Where did you get it?

Your coin is a Chinese counterfeit that is 90% silver. Look at the denticles at 5 O'clock you will notice both coins have the same missing and crooked dentiles. On your coin the counterfeiter made the coin appear to have taken a hit to explain the damaged dentiles. Known 90% Silver Chinese Counterfeit:  OP Coin:

Coin looks like it was minted yesterday, but all the coin features look mushy.

This coin is NOT cast. It is struck. Please get it out of your heads that all Chinese fakes are cast. The vast majority nowadays are struck using a coin press.

My opinion based on the photo is that the coin is a cast copy. On the obverse there are what appear to be cast bumps and pitting. The Chinese Manufacture notes in the description that this 90% silver coin was made from a mold of a genuine coin. I agree Chinese counterfeit coins can and are die struck from counterfeit dies. I am sure it cost more for counterfeiters to hand cut dies. If the die was hand cut, they did a very poor job on the dentiles. This coin can be purchased for about $50 dollars on the no no site, but I am not going to buy one to prove if the coin is cast or struck.

I vote for counterfeit. Eagle is just so mushy while the field is so brilliant and clean. Just doesn't feel right and lots of detail in the thread on specific reasons why.

If it's a real Trade dollar, it should weigh at 27.22g. 26.77g is too lite for a Trade dollar that looks almost in perfect condition.
