I like Ike. Nicely done.
Idle thought--remind me why Ike discussions are in the "US Modern Coins" forum. They are three (or more) designs ago as well as a bit of a different size than modern dollar coins.

I can't wait til they all arrive so I can get them in the 2x2's and show the page here. Going to be getting out the hedge trimmer for the mint set ones in cello and the sledgehammer to free the proofs real soon and will post the final images. Actually, I've read someplace that jbuck has cracked open more proofs sets than anyone. If you have your method jbuck, please let me know how you do it. Do I need a hardhat and steel tip boots?

Because he belongs with the other modern coins, like Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Washington, and Kennedy. Some were being minted for decades before Ike came along. It is good to not conflate "modern" with "current." The general rule is: Dead person, Modern. Liberty, Classic.

Do I need a hardhat and steel tip boots? I do not think that is true. The lenses are not sealed for proof sets made this century, they just pop open and close just as easily. For the sealed lenses, a utility knife along the seem usually cracks it open just fine. The only sets that have ever given me grief are 1973-1979 and the 1976 three coin silver proof set. That one is the worst!

I got them all. MontCollector sent me a gift and the TY1 1976 D he sent is dazzling. I won the BU 1990 silver commemorative today and the same coin in proof arrived today as well as the 71 silver unc and 74 silver brown Ike. I have a 12 pocket set now. Putting it together tonight. Just fill in the last hole when it shows up here next week.

Whew, cracken ze sets! Sounds almost German doesn't it?I got em in there, waiting on the unc 1990 silver commorative in the mail. I left the silver uncs in the cello's and put the commorative proof in a 2x2 rigid folder before stapling. It will be safer that way. Lousy picture but a neat set. I'll take a really better picture when the unc 90 comes in and write neatly on the 2x2's.

Awesome set, congratulations on completing it! Now I'm really tempted to go for an Ike set myself!

Well, this is only my interpretation of what an IKE "type" set might be, not a complete set of IKE's tho. There's at least one of every kind in here but not every date, mintmark, composition and then there's the different Earths. I think I am going to settle on this much for now. Thanks everyone for the help on this and for cheering me on. It made it a funner project.
