Quote: I hope spruett001 has a Ty 1 Clad Unc 1976 when I win that contest. Nope, nothing doing here. Not even a circulated one. By the way, you're in the contest ballpark but, not the closest. There's always Phase 2!

spruett001: Are you trying to tell me that I'm in the right church and wrong pew? Bad news: Is that I won't be using the Capital Plastic 9 hole holder and will probably use a 12 pocket page with 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 ers like this. Why? Because .. Good news: MontCollector has graciously and generously took it upon himself to send me a 1976 Ty 1 Thick Lettered Clad IKE for this set making it a set of 10. Solution: I suppose a Golden Presidential Eisenhower Unc Dollar and Proof would rightly fill in the last two slots to make this an IKE set of 12 coins. Makes sense? Oh, and Eisenhower was the President of the United States when I was born. That was a long time ago.

You could also fill them with the 1990 Eisenhower Commemorative Silver dollar Proof and the 2013? 5 star Generals Commemorative silver Dollar. Here is what the 1990 Eisenhower Commemorative silver Dollar looks like. I Don't have the other one...yet.

So tonight, as suggested, I got a 1990 proof commemorative Silver Dollar for 23 bucks and it's on the way. This will add to the set a lot better than a Golden Presidents Dollar. Just the Unc of the same commemorative left to go and no .... NO! NO!I will not get the 5 Star Generals commemorative. This is it jbuck. A 12 pocket, one page, dog and pony show. LOL and done. LOL

Quote:There's always the possibility of getting a 20-pocket page, right? I'm under Doctor's orders to not put any more than 12 Large One dollar sized coins in one page. "No heavy lifting means no heavy lifting" he says. Next thing you know, somebody will suggest another 12 pocket page or three. With my OCD condition, my therapist has affirmed I should stop the set on an even full page, and not go on to starting another without talking about it first with her. Heck, I can't sleep at nights as it is until I get that unc Eisenhower commemorative in there.

I like Ike. Nicely done.
Idle thought--remind me why Ike discussions are in the "US Modern Coins" forum. They are three (or more) designs ago as well as a bit of a different size than modern dollar coins.

I can't wait til they all arrive so I can get them in the 2x2's and show the page here. Going to be getting out the hedge trimmer for the mint set ones in cello and the sledgehammer to free the proofs real soon and will post the final images. Actually, I've read someplace that jbuck has cracked open more proofs sets than anyone. If you have your method jbuck, please let me know how you do it. Do I need a hardhat and steel tip boots?

Because he belongs with the other modern coins, like Lincoln, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Washington, and Kennedy. Some were being minted for decades before Ike came along. It is good to not conflate "modern" with "current." The general rule is: Dead person, Modern. Liberty, Classic.

Do I need a hardhat and steel tip boots? I do not think that is true. The lenses are not sealed for proof sets made this century, they just pop open and close just as easily. For the sealed lenses, a utility knife along the seem usually cracks it open just fine. The only sets that have ever given me grief are 1973-1979 and the 1976 three coin silver proof set. That one is the worst!
