Edible Gold Leaf It is commonly used to add a feeling of elegance or luxury to a dish. The gold itself is odorless and tasteless and considered "biologically inert." meaning it passes through the digestive tract without being absorbed. It lends itself to many possible decoration pieces both sweet or savory.

reminded me of Goldschläger "Goldschläger is a Swiss cinnamon schnapps (43.5% alcohol by volume or 87 proof; originally it was 53.5% alcohol or 107 proof),[1] a liqueur with very thin, yet visible flakes of gold floating in it."

Pharmaceuticals
Credited with curing or warding off everything from smallpox to measles, for centuries, the Chinese have used gold as a vaccine.
Gold was a common treatment for rheumatoid arthritis from the late 1920s until the 1990s. According to the JohnsHopkinsArthritisCenter, gold flakes were injected into muscles, into the veins and even given orally. Though gold could sometimes be an effective treatment, it is unclear exactly how it improves the patient's condition. New treatments with fewer side effects are now preferred.

One of the most exciting uses of gold in medicine is precision delivery of medication to fight cancer. Microscopic gold covered "medicine bullets" are fired at targeted cells then activated to release their load.

Microscopic particles of gold, dispersed in glass, give a unique purple colour.

A primary use of gold is in electrical contacts, typically as a quite thin plating, to assure that corrosion does not interfere with the circuit.

Gold is used to make the tiny wires which bond the contact points on silicon chips to the electrical leads on the chip encapsulations.

Gold has been irradiated with neutrons in nuclear reactors, to produce monoisotopic mercury (natural mercury is a mixture of several isotopes, all with slightly different physical properties) for use in high-precision scientific experiments.

Most crowns still are. The gold (with alloys) are sheathed in porcelain. Nothing beats gold for dental durability.

Evading governments prying eyes. Avoiding import/export taxes. Maybe less so now that crypto is around. But if I wanted to give someone without letting governments know, I'd use gold. Not saying I've done it.

According the technical treatise, The Elements Third Edition, written by John Emsley and published by the Clarendon Press, Oxford in 1998, the average person's body weighing 70 kilograms would contain a total mass of 0.2 milligrams of gold. The volume of this gold in purified form would be 10 nanoliters. If this refined gold were formed into a solid cube of purified gold, the measurement of each side of the cube would be 0.22 millimeters.

While the role of gold in the physiological processes of the human body was unknown for many years, it has recently been determined that gold plays a role in both the health and maintenance of the joints, as well as being a key element in the transmittal of electrical signals throughout the body.
