Just got a few of these sets and I really like them - aside from the plastic tab thingy which I am hesitant to open up and clean out as it may be a Mint "feature"? Just wondering if they pulled out the COA with 00150/20000 or if some regular person got one. Would that be worth more just because of that particular COA? Certainly I am not the first to come up with that thought . . .

Certainly I am not the first to come up with that thought . In theory, the premium for it possible. COAs #1967, #2017, #150 - have a potential with this set.

The only thing is the number has no relationship with the coin. Unlike currency the serial number is not printed on the coin itself. So you are paying a premium for a piece of paper called a COA. Is there such a thing as a COA collector?

Quote: Is there such a thing as a COA collector? similar to the 2012 Penny Roll: The guy or lady, who worked that time at RCM in the minting room, watched 1967 coins goes next to her / him ... hourly...daily. These memories have been shared in the family, and son or daughter decides do get the 1967-2017 set with some special Serial number of the certificate...

Quote: Start saving up for the re-issue of the $20 in gold. I guess 5 9s. I will, but won't buy if they make too many. How many are too many? Does anyone have insight as to if this will actually be a thing? Since the $20 "gold" coin in this set is really only gold plated it would be nice to see the RCM come out with a 4-9 or 5-9 gold version - but I am wondering at what a premium?

Received my set on Friday. Seems to me like the 2017 coins are a much lighter relief than the 1967 coins. If I had noticed this before buying, I suspect that I would have passed. But with the added hassle of returning it from the US, I will probably keep it, but it could have been so much more attractive. I have never been disappointed with RC mint quality until now.

That's what I noticed when I saw these, the relief is lower and they touched up Colville's what I view as perfect designs. Added whiskers to the rabbit, hair to the lynx, noticeably lowerd the relief on the wolf, used later busts of the queen. I would not be a buyer. I think it would have been really neat if they actually raised the relief on the animals but left the designs untouched, that way it would just excentuate the already amazing designs. I'll reserve my outrage for all the other garbage going on in the world right now, but will say, shame RCM shame shame shame. Please don't take this as a shot against those of you that bought, I really considered buying it too, but decided to buy 5 really nice red cased 1967 sets with silver medals instead, to throw on the stack of my others. Down the road I personally will enjoy them much more with my family.

Are we just splitting whiskers here... This set is a solid replica of the classic design in proof...good as it gets.

My take here is that the critics have it all correct with respect to the shortcomings of the reissue. But for some reason that is ok. Not 'great' but ok. Maybe it's because the originals should be inimitable in the minds of those of us interested in a pure silver tribute to the coins that we esteem to the degree it's apparent we do?

Got my set yesterday. I agree with Electrum, it is stunningly beautiful. I am not disappointed at all.

Has anyone experienced an odd billing issue when ordering from CP? I put an order for the Commemorative Proof Set with the 15% discount. My order confirmation states the expected total price of $199.71. Now that the order has shipped, the order summary in the My Accounts section of the CP website shows the total as $164.47 (seems like they discounted the amount twice).
I'm curious to know what will be the amount once it is posted on my credit card. I've never seen this before when ordering from CP. Anyone experience the same? I may have to order another set at the double discounted price. LOL.

Just to follow-up: I can confirm that there is a billing issue. The transaction posted to my card at $164.47 for the set. I don't know if the issue has been fixed on the site. It looks like the 15% discount is still on-going.
However, the set I received had a visible toning spot on the 50-cent coin. Sigh.
