Don't feel bad, it could be worse. This is how many of us started out. Well, at least me anyway. Does this look familiar? I don't need to tell you what was on the coins after 30 years. As a kid, I was very clever. It was the only way to keep the coins in the folder.

I will admit that I used double-stick tape in my first half dollar folder.

That's more clever then I was.

I think it had more to do with available materials than being clever.

Looking back, I'm surprised I didn't glue the coin into the folder!

When I was a kid I could only afford the cheap .35 cent Whitmans and Dansco folders.
My Canadian nickel set rusted the steel nickels and most were BU. I learned the lesson about good Albums before I put any good coins in them

I love your Whitman folder! I still have my first Whitman cent folder, but it's a little newer than your since it has spaces labeled to 1966. I bought it in 1965 (I think) when I was 7.

I wasn't as clever as the rest of you guys. It never occurred to me to tape the coins in place.

I know. I think we're singing the same song here. I was probably 7 or 10 myself. I can't begin to explain my logic back then. I probably thought it was cool! You can see my 7 or 10 year old handwriting.

I still have all of my Whitman folders in storage. There are even some coins in them. I really need to get them out to see how they have held up.

jbuck: Please post some photos of your original Whitman folders. That would be a lot of fun to see.
