HI all, My biggest fear is, My birthday is Aug 14, coming soon, I will take any old coins you want to send me for my birthday. I will be 66 and I will die one day, my wife has no real idea as to what my coins are worth. She will just spend them at face value. I have thought long and hard about who I might get to help her with all my collectibles, my daughter might be the best because she understands collecting. But my wife will over ride her. I will be dead and gone so I will not really know whats going on.

My greatest fear is that I will have spent all this time/money on collecting coins/bills and my sons/daughter or their children having no interest in the hobby. I have three children, two boys and a girl, and I hope having three increases my chances that at least one will continue to the legacy that my grandfather started. That is my greatest fear, that the love of the coins from three generations of my family will disappear.

Webster's definition of "fear" as a transitive and intransitive verb: to be afraid of or or apprehensive; expect with alarm.
I assume you are referring to the above definition.
My answer: I fear nothing except fear itself.
PS: I think I heard that from some one else so I'm not taking credit for it ;-)

I am late to collecting coins. My biggest fear is the country will stop minting coins or even paper dollars. Then start giving us credits. I mean we got to face it someday or somehow. Some evil person is going to say look how much it cost us to produce this coin. They did it with Gold, Silver and Copper. Eventually and I hate it but feel they will do away with all physical currency. what I would call primitive currency. Mind you this to me is like the NRA clinging to there guns. Credits can be lost but real currency can be placed in a vault. Sort of like the gold standard. Yes that is my biggest fear as a newbie and it would make coin collecting almost worthless. chime in I would like to hear others opinions on this?

My fear is that when I am gone, my heirs will sell my collection for pennies on the dollar and get ripped off.
