With over 3,000 Mercury dimes I would say there are numerous other dates with small and large Mint Marks. The only with a slot in my albums is the 45 Micro S but there are many, many more. And those Mint marks are all over the place in location too. I've got some so jammed into the E I can't figure out how they did it. Some ar turned in all directions also. I find about 20% or more of all Mercury dimes have a rotated reverse to some degree also. Always planning on making a display board with the reverses in left rotated to right with small to large degrees.

Hmmm, I knew about the 2 varieties of "s" for the 1945, but not the 3rd. Is there any posted comparison or other reference? Is it in the 2nd Cherrypicker?

I just picked up a 1941S large in EF for $1.75 plus freight on ebay last week. Some one broke up a set and sold it individually and lucky for me nobody noticed the "S". One of my very few good buys, usually get hammered! nlp

I have a question regarding the mercs but didn't want to start a new thread. Is the 1923 hard to find in EF, AU grade?

They must be difficult in higher grade. I have 11 of them and the best is VF20. They are all in sets and not for sale individually. nlp

Hey JohnAP, I have a complete set ranging from AG03-MS64. Most are obtainable in several different grade levels. The 16-D I would suggest buying certified by PCGS,NGC,or ANACS. There are so many shady people out there. I would trust no one buying this coin raw. Just my opinion. Mine is a PCGS AG03. Terrific long term investment coin. Mine has already gone up $400 since purchasing it.

I got a nice 1940S toned Mercury dime as a bonus when I bought a 1926S Buffalo nickel on ebay. The seller was really nice and the coins are beautiful. Wish I could post them, but I haven't posted 50 times yet. Sorry. Maybe you can get there through this:

I wish I could properly shoot the 1926-S Buffalo nickel. I need to get a plain 50mm lens for my Nikon D70, and I have some close-up lenses, and then maybe one of those ring flashes, and a small tripod, or is there an easier way? But thanks for posting the 1940s dime for me. That was a neat surprise on the sellers part of giving that to me. Probably not worth much, but it sure is pretty.

I love Mercury dimes. I recently bought a 1921D in pretty good shape. I'll try to post a picture of it, if anyone is interested. It's not a key, but a semi-key. I want to have it graded. Maybe someone can tell me if it's worth my effort or not. I bought a 45 micro also, but haven't got it yet. I may never get that 16D. That's the phantom ghost.

There is also a 1916 S large & small mint marks.

Not listed anywhere, but, then, Coin World apparently doesn't think that it is interesting.

Okay, but I was there first!
[just kidding. I wrote to Von Klinger (Collector's Clearinghouse, Coin World) and never got a reply.
Another time he asked to see them, and returned them, no comment.]

Maybe Von Klinger wanted to be the discoverer and not give you the credit of being the first to notice it. Keep the e-mail or letter you sent to him, just in case this question ever pops up someday. Maybe you're the first to discover one! That would be super cool!
