I like them both, but put a gun to my head, I'd go with the 1841. I like the toning on it. The mark on the 1841 appears to be a die crack, right? That also appeals to me. If you decide to sell the 1841, let me know.

If you are a type collector than choose a decent example, such as the 1841 and sell the one which will bring in the most money so you can keep building your type set. Me? I'd keep the 1840. Love the look and I'm a sucker for die cracks!

I read the thread from the beginning and my first reaction was the '41-O. Just a nice original tone and I like the die crack. Then after seeing your other coins, I think it fits best with those. Is there an obverse rim Cud on the 41 as well? |

Not a fan of either one myself but the '41-O is the better example at the assigned grade. The 1840 reverse kills it as a 55 and has no chance at CAC IMO.

That gouge on the obverse of the 41 bothers me. Not really a fan of either.

This is a tough one.  I like the color of the 1840 better and the obverse detail on Miss Liberty's face and hair is mesmerizing! BUT! I would keep the 1841 for the over all better strike and details. I'm with JBuck: I don't envy your decision having to let either one of these go. Edited by Moe145
