Henning Nickels are dated 1939, 1944, 1946, 1947, and 1953. The 1944 is easily the most popular year because it's the easiest to spot.

I still have my Hennings. I'm currently trying to obtain more off date Hennings (1939, 1946, 1947 & 1953). I also have a copy of the Stuckey book that I bought years ago in a major numismatic literature auction. BigSilver, could you post a photo of the counterfeit of a counterfeit that you have? Since you mentioned it in this thread I assume it is a Henning.

I've got a '44 that I found in change many years ago, before I knew the Henning story, and just tossed it aside as a curiosity (fortunately).

I have two of the 1944 Henning's (I don't know if they are with or without the looped R) and a copy of the Dwight Stuckey book

@pyrobob-
I don't think I have those pictures anymore. And the coin was returned for a refund. I did post it here at the time, but I couldn't find the topic any longer.

Never mind I found it. We butted heads about it at the time.

Thanks for the link, BigSilver. That one is interesting if the XRF results were correct.

You said it weighed about 5g. I mentioned earlier here that I believe Hennings weigh about 5.5g. I read it was either a mistake or he intentionally ordered the planchets overweight to avoid suspicion. I haven't found what the composition should be.

If I were to get one, I was going to ask for the weight from the seller to try and confirm it is a genuine Henning. I would probably stick to examples with the looped R to be more safe, as well.

If anyone would like to post pics of their example(s), please do!

I don't have any of the known Henning years I did however find about a year or so ago a 1945 D with the MM above the montecello building. Guarunteed fake, after a little bounce test on the counter to listen for classic War Nickel sound a small peice of the rim broke off revealing what looks to be a washer or some sort of metal disk within. I can't remember what it weighed tho, I'll up have to rescale it and see.

*Edit- There is no hole in the r of Pluribus. I don't know if it somehow *doubtful* maaaybe the missing year Henning alluded to. I'm guessing it was done by a less notable and unknown forger.

I have 2 1944's, one with a looped R, one without, and a 1943.

I'd like to have them graded and slabbed, but I'm afraid they will be seized.

1943 isn't one of the known dates. Are you sure it is a Henning? Please post pics if you can.

I never thought of the grading thing. Do TPGs slab Hennings? I'm guessing not as they are counterfeit and the only ones I see for sale are raw.

A 44 on ebay sold for over 1000 a few weeks ago.

I have a 1947 looped R 5.6 henning and was on a coin show a few weeks back.

The henning on ebay that sold a few weeks ago was a 1946 henning looped R.. there's been several 47's sell on ebay over that past few years they are actually more common then the 46... the rarity goes 44 being the most common then 1939,1947,1946, and the rarest year being the 1953 never seen one sell ever and can hardly find can find a photo of it. never even communicated with a person that owns one.. I'm in search for the 53 for my collection..
