Yet another fake on ebay. Caveat Emptor. These most faked years seem to be the 25th Anniversary coin from 2004, 2008, 2015 and 2016. This one is made to look like an NGC retro holder. This is a very poorly done fake, especially the obverse. Many of these reside in "NGC" holders with the serial number starting with "185". That is because NGC about 400 of the REAL versions of the 2004 coin were certified in by NGC, but they did not maintain a photo record of these coins by which an investor could compare to the real thing. Many of the 2004 coins are sold on ebay in bait and switch schemes as well. This is where the seller shows a photo of a real coin, and mails the fraud coin instead.  |

How about one more? This fraudster can be contracted to produce 100,000 high quality fakes for $0.30 per piece. One last little quip, Canadian coins are most often fakes, largely, because authorities are so soft on the fraudsters. In the US, these people would be facing some serious jail time. Here though, a request to cease at best after defrauding investors of $150K (angers me)

Although admirable for all the reporting some members do for the hobby, you miss the point, the RCM owns the copyrights and some patents on certain coins, only the RCM can request enforcement actions of the CBSA and RCMP, they the RCM will still have to prove harm to their copyrights and as an added bonus they have a counterfeit law to boot. We all should direct our anger towards the RCM, only they can ask for enforcement, it amazes me that one nice letter from the crack RCM's legal team to ebay would curb most of the fakes reaching the market place, they just don't care. |

Just curious JGG but who called you back? The RCMP or ebay? Ultimately, it is his responsibly to set the tone. Though he might be a bit busy tying to fight other fires. |

BOC only deals with currency issues, except the goofy offering of the gold coins a few years ago

In fact, he specifically mentioned that the Queen's effigy is copyrighted and that it is unlawful to reproduce that image.

The BOC only deals with currency and like the RCM has the copyrights to use the queens image on coins plus they also have counterfeit law to back them too, so in the case of coins it's the RCM that needs to ask other government agency to aid with enforcement, not the end users, we have no standings. |

Well, not a peep from the RCM. I've contacted them many times and they don't do anything about it. |

That's what a few of us have said for a few years regarding the RCM's response to this issue, I guess if some of us keep buying their NCLT they don't care, someday the market will be over run with fakes if you don't acknowledge it first. |

Just reading this post for the first time. I can't see how the RCM can treat this as an isolated case. When we were reporting fake gold bars on the counterfeit threads, there were numerous RCM Gold bars reported along with countless other brands of bars. Just for the heck of it, I checked ebay for fake RCM gold bars and four listings down on the first page I found this one. Seller name- dallmadc ebay item no. 322870060790If I went through all the listings, there probably would have been more. |

You have done a lot of reporting here to have some of the fakes taken off, but you should be contacting your rep or the RCM, but probably you will come to the same conclusion of the RCM just doesn't care. |

john100- I don't have a rep as I don't deal in NCLT coins and as far as contacting the RCM, as you can see by previous posts, it would be a waste of time. |
